Having trouble signing in? This article walks through the most common causes of login problems and how to resolve them.

User level: All users

Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • The login page won't load or keeps refreshing

  • You see an "incorrect email or password" error

  • You see an SSO error, or SSO returns you to the login screen in a loop

  • A "phone number is incorrect" pop-up appears during first login or registration

  • You see a server error the first time you try to sign in

  • A message says your account is disabled, suspended, or your trial has ended

  • The desktop app won't open or shows a login error, but you're not sure whether the web version works

Root Cause

Login problems usually come down to one of the following:

  • A cached session or a browser extension blocking the login page

  • A forgotten or mistyped password

  • An SSO email that doesn't match the email registered on your CloudTalk account, or an SSO misconfiguration

  • An existing or conflicting account record blocking a fresh sign-up

  • A phone number entered in the wrong format during registration

  • An account that is suspended, expired, or blocked for billing reasons

  • A problem specific to the desktop app installation

  • A temporary platform issue

Step-by-Step Solution

Work through these in order. Each one rules out a common cause.

1. Check CloudTalk system status

Before troubleshooting, check whether there's a known incident. Go to status.cloudtalk.io. If there's an active incident or degraded performance, wait for it to resolve, then try again. If the status page is clear, continue. If you hit a server error on your first sign-in attempt, wait a few minutes and retry in an incognito window before moving on, and contact Support if it persists.

2. Try a private (incognito) browser window

Cached sessions or browser extensions can block the login page.

  1. Open a private/incognito window:

    • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + N (Chrome/Edge) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox)

    • Mac: Cmd + Shift + N (Chrome/Edge) or Cmd + Shift + P (Firefox)

  2. Go to dashboard.cloudtalk.io and try signing in.

If this works, clear your browser cache and cookies in your normal window, then try again.

3. Reset your password

If you see an "incorrect email or password" error, or you're not sure of your password, reset it from the password reset page. Enter the email associated with your account, select Reset password, and follow the link in the email from [email protected] (subject: Reset Your Password). If you don't see it, check your Spam or Promotions folders. For the full walkthrough, see How to reset your password.

Note: For security reasons, CloudTalk Support cannot reset passwords on your behalf or confirm which email address is registered on an account.

4. Check whether the web app works

If the desktop app won't open or shows a login error, try the browser version instead. Go to phone.cloudtalk.io and sign in. If the web app works but the desktop app doesn't, the issue is specific to the app installation. See the CloudTalk Phone guide for reinstallation steps.

5. Fix a "phone number is incorrect" error

If you see this pop-up during first login or registration, enter your phone number in full international format, including the country code and a leading plus sign, for example +31612345678. Re-enter it in that format and continue.

6. SSO (Single Sign-On) issues

If your account uses SSO and you see an SSO error:

  • Try signing in with your email and password directly instead of the SSO button.

  • Make sure the email you use with your identity provider (for example, Google) exactly matches the email registered on your CloudTalk account. If they don't match, sign in with the registered email or ask your admin to update the account email.

  • If you're not sure whether SSO is enabled, contact your company's CloudTalk admin.

  • If you're the admin and SSO is misconfigured, contact CloudTalk Support with your company domain.

For setup details, see How to use SSO.

7. Account disabled or expired

If you see a message that your account is disabled, suspended, or that your trial has ended:

  • Trial expired: Contact your CloudTalk account manager or visit the pricing page to upgrade.

  • Account disabled due to billing: Check your billing details in the Dashboard under Account > Billing.

  • Account disabled for another reason: Contact CloudTalk Support and include your company name and the email on the account.

When to Contact CloudTalk Support

Reach out to Support if none of the steps above resolve the issue. To speed up the investigation, include:

  • The exact error message you see (a screenshot helps)

  • The email address you're trying to sign in with

  • Whether the issue affects one user or multiple users

  • Whether phone.cloudtalk.io in a private browser window shows the same error

When SSO login keeps failing

In some cases, an existing account record can block a fresh sign-up or re-registration, even if you've never successfully logged in before. This often shows up as an SSO loop or a repeated "SSO login failed" message, and it can't be resolved through self-service. Contact CloudTalk Support and include the exact error, the email you're trying to register or sign in with, and whether you've previously had a CloudTalk account under any email address. Our team will check for conflicting account records and reset them so you can complete registration.
