CloudTalk Go is designed to reliably deliver call notifications in various app states. Whether the app is open, minimized, or even fully closed, you’ll still be notified, as long as you're logged in and notifications are not paused.

When Call Will Ring
You will receive call notifications in the following scenarios:
App State | Logged In | Notifications | Will It Ring? | Details |
App Open (Foreground) | ✅ Yes | 🔔 Turned On | ✅ Yes | The app is actively open. A banner appears, and you can answer directly inside the app. |
App in Background | ✅ Yes | 🔔 Turned On | ✅ Yes | You'll receive a push notification. Tap it to return to the app and answer the call. |
App Closed (Quit) | ✅ Yes | 🔔 Turned On | ✅ Yes | A push notification appears even if the app isn’t running. Tapping it launches the app and opens the call screen. |
Calls will ring in any of these states as long as you’re logged in and notifications are turned on in Profile → Settings → Notifications.
When Calls Will Not Ring
You will not receive any call notifications in the following situations:
App State | Logged In | Notifications | Will It Ring? | Details |
Any State | ❌ No | N/A | ❌ No | If you're logged out, CloudTalk Go won’t send notifications. |
App Open (Foreground) | ✅ Yes | 🔕 Turned Off | ❌ No | With notifications turned off, the app stays silent even if open. |
App in Background | ✅ Yes | 🔕 Turned Off | ❌ No | No push alert is delivered while notifications are paused. |
App Closed (Quit) | ✅ Yes | 🔕 Turned Off | ❌ No | The app won’t ring, and no notification will appear. |
How It Works Behind the Scenes
The Notifications settings in CloudTalk Go let you manage how and when you’re alerted about incoming calls and messages. You can turn off notifications entirely, set a Night silence period to mute alerts overnight, or use Scheduled pausing to silence notifications on specific days or hours.
When notifications are turned off or a quiet period is active, CloudTalk Go won’t ring, even if the app is open or running in the background.
If you’re logged in and notifications are enabled, calls will still come through, even if the app is closed. You’ll receive a push notification, and tapping it will open the app directly to the call screen.
To make sure call notifications work properly, check that push notifications for CloudTalk Go are allowed in your phone’s system settings. If notifications are blocked at the device level, incoming calls may not appear.
FAQ
Do I need to keep the app open to receive calls?
No. As long as you’re logged in and notifications are turned on in the app, calls will ring whether CloudTalk Go is open, running in the background, or fully closed.Note: On mobile, agents can receive incoming call notifications even when their status is set to Offline. This behavior is specific to the CloudTalk Go app and differs from the desktop app and CTI, where Offline status blocks incoming calls entirely.
What happens if I force-close the app?
You’ll still receive incoming call notifications as long as you’re logged in and notifications are turned on in the app’s Notifications settings. If you’re logged out, or if notifications are turned off or muted by a Night silence or Scheduled pausing period, CloudTalk Go won’t ring.
Can I stop calls during breaks?
Yes. You can turn off Notifications or use the Scheduled pausing option to temporarily mute all incoming calls and alerts during your break.
