This guide outlines the supported number types, required documents, hosting rules, and porting timelines for Italian numbers.
Initial Overview
1. Supported Number Types
Number Type | Format Example | Notes |
Geographic (Local) | e.g., +39 02, +39 06 | Porting supported |
Toll-Free | e.g., 800 xxx xxx | Porting only supported if current carrier is Wind Tre |
2. Submit Your Request
Request porting directly in the CloudTalk Dashboard: open Numbers > Port existing number and follow the guided steps. All supported number types for this country use the same flow, and you can track your request anytime under Numbers > Porting requests.
Looking to port numbers from other countries? See Global Porting Coverage.
3. Letter of Authorization
Where an LOA is required, the correct template for this country downloads inside the Documents step of your porting request: download it, sign it, and upload it right there. You no longer need a separate template from this guide.
(Other document requirements listed below.)
4. Timelines & Pricing
Number Type | Estimated Duration | Price |
Local | ~2–3 weeks | €30.00 per request, €10.00 per number |
Toll-Free | ~2–3 weeks | €10.00 per request, €40.00 per number |
⚠️ Timelines may vary if submitted details do not match your current provider’s records.
Required Documents For Number Porting
The correct LOA template and English guides download inside the Documents step of your porting request.
✅ Local Numbers
Signed LOA (signed by an authorized company representative; address must match provider’s records)
Recent invoice (dated within the last 30 days, showing number and account holder)
Migration Code (must be requested from your current provider; required to process the port)
Compliance:
Company representative’s ID (passport or national ID)
Tax ID (Codice Fiscale)
Company details (legal name, VAT number, Italian address)
✅ Toll-Free Numbers
Signed LOA (address in Italy not required)
VAT number (11-digit standard VAT or 16-character codice fiscale)
Invoice or official ownership proof
Toll-free number must be with a supported carrier - porting is not available for all providers.
Porting Process Overview
Submit Your Porting Request
Submit your request in the CloudTalk Dashboard under Numbers > Port existing number.
Initial Review
Cloudtalk team'll verify number portability and confirm the next steps.
Documentation Collection
Complete and sign the LOA (Letter of Authorization), and provide a recent invoice from your current telecom provider.
Submission to Carrier
CloudTalk submits your request to our partner carrier, who then forwards it to your current provider.
Approval or Rejection
If approved, Cloudtalk team will confirm the porting date (typically 2–4 business days in advance).
If rejected, Cloudtalk team will share the reason and guide you on how to correct and resubmit the request.
Common Rejection Reasons
Issue | Explanation | How to Fix |
Missing Migration Code | Mandatory for all local number ports in Italy | Contact your provider and request the migration code |
Mismatched Information | Address, name, or number doesn’t match provider file | Double-check all fields and update LOA/invoice if needed |
Unauthorized Signer | LOA not signed by a recognized contact | Use the authorized account owner or company legal representative |
Inactive Number | Number has been suspended or deactivated | Reactivate it before submitting the porting request |
Ineligible Toll-Free | Toll-free number is not with Wind Tre | Porting not possible unless with that specific carrier |
On Porting Day
The number is activated in your CloudTalk account
Your former provider deactivates the number
CloudTalk billing begins the same day
We recommend notifying your previous provider to prevent duplicate charges
