Porting Process Overview

  1. Submit Your Porting Request
Send your request to the CloudTalk Porting Team to begin the process.

  2. Initial Review
Cloudtalk team'll verify number portability and confirm the next steps.

  3. Documentation Collection
Complete and sign the LOA (Letter of Authorization), and provide a recent invoice from your current telecom provider.

  4. Submission to Carrier
CloudTalk submits your request to our partner carrier, who then forwards it to your current provider.

  5. Approval or Rejection

    • If approved, Cloudtalk team will confirm the porting date (typically 2–4 business days in advance).

    • If rejected, Cloudtalk team will share the reason and guide you on how to correct and resubmit the request.

Common Rejection Reasons

Issue

How to Avoid

Missing or incomplete LOA

Ensure the LOA is fully filled out, digitally signed by an authorized person, and includes the correct main number (Hunting Line).

Invoice does not match provider records

Use a recent invoice (within 30 days) that clearly shows the number(s) being ported and the correct business name.

Business registration not provided or invalid

Include a valid Hong Kong Business Registration Certificate with the correct entity name matching the LOA.

No Hunting Line declared

Clearly identify the main number and associated lines in your documents—this is mandatory for Hong Kong ports.

Partial port request for a number range

Entire blocks must be ported together. Do not attempt to port only a subset of a range; the request will be rejected.

Outdated or missing proof of address

Make sure your supporting document is recent (within 6 months) and issued by a third party. Accepted formats: utility bill, bank statement, or official government document.

LOA or invoice name mismatch

The name on all submitted documents must match exactly. Differences in formatting or abbreviations may cause delays or rejection.

On Porting Day

  • Your number is activated in your CloudTalk account

  • Your former provider deactivates the number

  • CloudTalk billing begins the same day
