If you need to delete a phone number from your CloudTalk account, this article explains how to request removal correctly, what to expect after deletion, and when the change takes effect.

User level: Admin

Symptoms

You may encounter one or more of the following:

  • You no longer need a specific phone number and want it deleted.

  • You cannot remove a number manually from the Dashboard.

  • You want to free up a number slot or stop paying for an unused number.

  • You are unsure how number deletion affects billing and call flows.

Root Cause

Phone number deletion is not a self-service action in CloudTalk.

Numbers must be manually removed by the Support team to prevent accidental data or call flow loss.

When a number is removed:

  1. The associated call flow is deleted.

  2. The change takes effect in the next billing cycle.

  3. The number cannot be restored once removed.

Step-by-Step Solution

1. Prepare Your Request

List all phone numbers you want to delete in full international format, including the country code (for example: +442012345678).

2. Confirm the Details

Double-check that the numbers are correct and confirm that you want them permanently deleted.

3. Contact Support

Reach out to our Support team and include:

  • The list of phone numbers you want to remove

  • A short confirmation message, such as: Please delete these numbers from my account. I understand this action is permanent.

The Support team will verify your request and complete the removal.

Temporarily disable a number instead of deleting it

If you want to stop agents from using a number for outbound calls but keep the number on your account, you don't need to delete it. Support can disable outbound calling on a specific number while keeping everything else intact.

When a number has outbound disabled:

  • Agents can no longer select it as their caller ID for outgoing calls.

  • The number still receives inbound calls as normal.

  • Billing continues, so the number stays reserved for future use.

This is useful when you're testing a new caller ID setup and want to prevent agents from using the old number until the new one is confirmed working.

  • To disable outbound on a number: contact Support with the number in full international format (for example, +972 53 566 1314) and let us know you want outbound calling switched off.

  • To re-enable it later: contact Support again and ask to turn outbound calling back on. There's no self-service toggle for this in the Dashboard, so both changes go through Support.

Additional Notes

  • Only CloudTalk Support can process number deletions.

  • Deleted numbers and their call flows cannot be recovered.

  • The call history and logs linked to the number remain available after deletion. WhatsApp and SMS conversations are also kept on CloudTalk's backend, but their visibility in the app is subject to a conversation display limit. If you need guaranteed access to a number's message history, request a message export from our support team before the deletion is processed. See Starting WhatsApp Chats for details.

  • If you are unsure whether to delete or temporarily disable a number, ask Support before confirming the removal.
