To make sure that your sound settings are compatible with using CloudTalk, you may need to configure your sound devices, your operating system and the CloudTalk app itself.

Configuring your operating system

Windows 7

  • Open the Control Panel

  • Click on Hardware and Sound

  • Click on Sound

  • Under the individual tabs, check the hardware used for playing and recording sound and set the desired hardware as your default one

Windows 10

  • Access Settings in the Start menu

  • Click on System

  • Click on Sound

  • Under Related Settings, open the Sound control panel

  • Under the individual tabs, check the hardware used for playing and recording sound and set the desired hardware as your default one

Mac OS

  • Open System Settings

  • Click on Sound

  • Check the output and input items and select the desired device from the list

Configuring VOIP phone

Software VOIP phones include items for audio devices in their settings. Check whether your required devices are selected.

Configuring CloudTalk Phone web application

Open the app and go to Profile (icon in the bottom-left corner).

Click on Microphone & Speakers and choose the desired microphone and speakers.

Click on Start test call. This will immediately check whether your selected settings work fine.

Ringing Strategy

CloudTalk allows you to configure how incoming call ringtones are played, even when a headset is connected.

To set this up:

  • Open the CloudTalk app and go to Settings.

  • Navigate to Microphone and Speakers to select the desired input/output devices for calls.

  • For ringtones, go to the Notifications section and select a different output device (e.g., your computer speakers instead of your headset).
