Here are our tips and recommendations for a reliable call center headset.

The Most Important Headset Features

Having a professional headset is crucial for maintaining high sound and voice quality in your calls. A professional headset for voice communications should have:

  • Noise cancellation for eliminating high frequency sounds, such as conversations of other agents in your office

  • Corded connection, such as a USB connector or 3.5mm jack, to reduce the frequency of network jitter

  • Stereo for creating a wider soundstage, improving the listening experience

Our Pick

We recommend the Jabra Evolve 40 Stereo. This headset connects to your computer via USB or 3.5mm jack connector.

We like it because it has all the features we outlined above, and it's compatible with both Windows and Mac. For either system, we recommend using this headset with a USB connector.

Tip: Learn how to properly configure your headset.

Budget Option

If you are looking for something in a lower price range, you can also try the Jabra Evolve 30 Stereo. Though an older model, it will still offer all of the important features we outlined above.

What to Avoid

Having a professional headset is crucial for maintaining the high quality of your calls. For this reason, we don't recommend using:

  • bluetooth headsets

  • earphones

  • mono headsets

In particular, bluetooth headsets don't typically have the bandwidth or performance ceiling to keep up with the best wired headphones.
