## What is changing

A Spanish regulation ([BOE-A-2026-8409](https://www.boe.es/diario_boe/txt.php?id=BOE-A-2026-8409)) reserves the **400 range** (400 XXX XXX) for commercial calls. From 17 October 2026, companies covered by the rule can make commercial calls in Spain only from a 400 number, and carriers can block commercial calls from other numbers.

400 numbers work differently from regular numbers:

* **Outbound only.** You can make calls from a 400 number, but it can't receive calls. Customers can't call it back.
* **Commercial calls only.** Use them for sales and marketing calls, not for customer care.

<Info>
  Your existing Spanish geographic, national, and toll-free numbers stay valid for **customer-care calls** and for receiving calls. You only need a 400 number for outbound commercial calls.
</Info>

<Warning>
  Whether the rule applies to your business depends on your industry and how you call customers. If you're not sure, check with your legal team.
</Warning>

## How to get a 400 number

400 numbers are ordered through our Numbers team.

1. [Contact Support](https://support.cloudtalk.io/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=26305535257884) and ask for a Spanish 400 number for commercial calls. Tell us how many numbers you need.
2. Send us the details required for Spain:
   * your registered **business name**
   * your **Spanish tax ID** (NIF)
   * a **business address in Spain** (P.O. boxes aren't accepted)
3. Our Numbers team submits the request to the carrier and lets you know when the number is added to your account.

Once it's active, set the 400 number as the outbound number for your sales agents or dialer campaigns, and keep your other numbers for inbound calls and customer care.
