# 🇭🇰 Hong Kong Number Porting Guide

> A guide to porting local and toll-free phone numbers in Hong Kong to CloudTalk

> [!NOTE]
>
> This guide outlines the supported number types, required documents, hosting rules, and porting timelines for Hong Kong numbers.

## Initial Overview

### Supported Number Types

* Local (Geographic)

* Toll-free

### Submit Your Request

Request porting directly in the CloudTalk Dashboard: open **Numbers > Port existing number** and follow the guided steps. All supported number types for this country use the same flow, and you can track your request anytime under **Numbers > Porting requests**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Looking to port numbers from other countries? See **[Global Porting Coverage](https://help.cloudtalk.io/en/articles/5440566-porting-pricing-and-coverage.md)**.

### Letter of Authorization

You’ll need to submit a **signed Letter of Authorization (LOA)**. If a template is available for this country, it **downloads inside the Documents step** of your porting request; otherwise we’ll email you the correct template after you submit. Sign it and upload it with your request.

(Other document requirements listed below.)

### Timelines & Pricing

| Number Type | Estimated Duration | Pricing |
| - | - | - |
| Local | 22 business days | **€30.00** per request, **€60.00** per number |
| Toll-Free | 32 business days | **€0.00** per request, **€45.00** per number |

> [!WARNING]
>
> ⚠️ Timelines may vary if submitted details do not match your current provider’s records.

## Required Documents for Number Porting

#### ✅ Local Numbers

* Signed LOA (the template downloads in the Documents step of your porting request, or we email it after you submit; not needed upfront)

* Recent invoice (shows number(s) and account ownership)

* HK Business Registration certificate

* Hunting Line declaration (must identify the main number and all associated lines; entire number block must be ported)

#### ✅ Toll-Free Numbers

* Signed LOA

* Latest Invoice

* Hunting Line Declaration (as above; applies to both local and toll-free)

* **Note**: Porting is not possible for only a portion of a number range

#### Proof of Address Requirement (applies to all numbers):

* Must be third-party issued and match the name on the LOA/invoice

  * Accepted:

    * Utility bill (within 6 months)

    * Bank statement (within 6 months)

    * Government-issued document (within the past year)

## Porting Process Overview

1. **Submit Your Porting Request**\
   Submit your request in the CloudTalk Dashboard under **Numbers > Port existing number**.

2. **Initial Review**\
   Cloudtalk team'll verify number portability and confirm the next steps.

3. **Documentation Collection**\
   Complete and sign the LOA (Letter of Authorization), and provide a recent invoice from your current telecom provider.

4. **Submission to Carrier**\
   CloudTalk submits your request to our partner carrier, who then forwards it to your current provider.

5. **Approval or Rejection**

   * If **approved**, Cloudtalk team will confirm the porting date (typically 2–4 business days in advance).

   * If **rejected**, Cloudtalk team will share the reason and guide you on how to correct and resubmit the request.

## Common Rejection Reasons

| **Issue** | **How to Avoid** |
| - | - |
| **Missing or incomplete LOA** | Ensure the LOA is fully filled out, digitally signed by an authorized person, and includes the correct main number (Hunting Line). |
| **Invoice does not match provider records** | Use a recent invoice (within 30 days) that clearly shows the number(s) being ported and the correct business name. |
| **Business registration not provided or invalid** | Include a valid Hong Kong Business Registration Certificate with the correct entity name matching the LOA. |
| **No Hunting Line declared** | Clearly identify the main number and associated lines in your documents—this is mandatory for Hong Kong ports. |
| **Partial port request for a number range** | Entire blocks must be ported together. Do not attempt to port only a subset of a range; the request will be rejected. |
| **Outdated or missing proof of address** | Make sure your supporting document is recent (within 6 months) and issued by a third party. Accepted formats: utility bill, bank statement, or official government document. |
| **LOA or invoice name mismatch** | The name on all submitted documents must match exactly. Differences in formatting or abbreviations may cause delays or rejection. |
