# Look up contacts

> Finds contacts by exact phone number or email. Send up to 50 of each. A contact matches when any value you sent matches it. The values travel in the request body, so they never appear in a URL or an access log. Error messages name the position of a bad value (`phones[2]`), never the value itself.

Results are paged like [List and search contacts](/api-reference/contacts/list-and-search-contacts). Do not rely on their order: it is not a ranking.
