# Delete a contact

> Permanently deletes the contact with its numbers, emails, tags and custom field values. This cannot be undone.

- Calls with this contact stay in your call history, but they are no longer linked to the contact.
- Dialer campaigns that selected the contact by tag drop it at the next Dialer reconcile (every 5 minutes by default).
- A [`contact.deleted`](/guides/webhooks/events/contacts#contact-deleted) webhook is sent.
- Deleting the same contact again returns `404`: treat it as done.
